Jay Ditmarsch and Aaron Wright have achieved National selection to join the 2012 Australian Under 23 Team competing at the Henley Royal Regatta in June, and the World Rowing U23 Championships in Lithuania in July. Congratulations to these two fine Mosman athletes on another great milestone in their already impressive rowing careers. Well done also to Rory Glover who, while only 19, was invited to trial and has been selected as a reserve for the U23 Men's Sculling team. This bodes well for Rory in the years ahead.
Congratulations also to Georgie Gotch and Coach Alfie Young on their selection to the 2012 Australian Junior Team. Georgie will represent Australia in the Women's Coxless Four coached by Alfie at the World Junior Rowing Championships in Bulgaria in August. This is a great achievement from the Mosman/Queenwood partnership and one of which we can all be proud!
The national selections of Jay, Aaron, Rory, Georgie and Alfie follows on from the earlier selections of Mosman's Dan "Noono" Noonan, Amy Clay and Head Coach Nick Garratt into the Australian Senior A Team who fly to Lucerne, Switzerland in mid-May for final qualification and World Cup events, and ultimately the London Olympics.
Congratulations to these six superb athletes and two outstanding coaches on their selections to represent Australia as part of the 2012 National Rowing Team. This is a great reflection on the Club and our partner schools, and continues to cement MRC's long-standing reputation as a home for the development of Australian representative rowers and champions!
