NSWRA Spring Regatta 2008
Yesterday the Regatta season for 2008 began in earnest.
We have already had great performances from our aspiring representative
rowers at NSWIS Timetrials. And there was even a sighting of the "F"
troop on the Nepean River last weekend.
But yesterday all sections of the club were represented at SIRC.
We had our newest Juniors--both a boys quad and a girls quad--some of
them only rowing for a few weeks but now on the water and racing on the
Olympic course and having ...

Mosman’s Olympians in Action
Over the last few days there has been some very quick racing in the early rounds of the Beijing Olympic Rowing Championships. As the fields all try to squeeze into the 6 lane finals, this will lead to some fantastic racing over the next few days.
Already going as quick as anyone has gone before is Mosman's own Dan Noonan, who stroked the mens quad to a new World Record in the first heat of the men's quad. ...

Olivia Heath back from World Juniors
Another of Mosman's shining young stars has just returned from Austria. Olivia Heath was competing for Australia in the Junior World Championships. She stroked the coxless four which came fifth in the A final against very formidable competition. It was a great result for her first try at international competition. Well done Olivia!...

Dan won the national senior sculling title and the Interstate single, and Peter will race the single scull - achieving his dream after qualifying the boat for the Olympics last August in the Munich World Championships after a late call-up to replace Dan Noonan.
Unquestionably, the ...

A couple of US “fireman” raise the standard at Mosman Rowing Club.
On Friday the 21th we were joined by a couple of very successful US oarsmen for New York far a morning row before they jumped on a plane home for Christmas.
They're not just anybodies: Chris Ahrens, probably the most successful U.S. sweep oarsman ever (5 world championships, one Olympic gold in the 8 in Athens) and Jamie Koven, twice World Champion in the single and Olympic 4- in Sydney. ...

A Brilliant Sunday of Birthdays
On Sunday we had a fantastic day at Mackerel Beach care of the Wear family who were hosts at their holiday cottage tucked away in Diggers Lane.
The excuse was a BBQ for the juniors and Nick's task (onerous) was to bring the ice. Amy's task (extremely onerous) was to ensure Nick actually got there.
Success! They both got there!
SURPRISE!!!
The BBQ turned out to be a surprise double header birthday party for Nick and Amy (not the same age. Well if ...

Peter Collett - Atlantic Challenger!
That fateful day has come when we need to gather together and give Pete a good send off on his Atlantic Challenge. It has been a rollercoaster ride to the start line but it looks like he will make it despite many obstacles along the way! This is a chance for us to say "See you soon" to Pete and for Pete and I to say a huge "Thank you" to all who have supported him in his somewhat crazy ...

It's pretty obvious what traits a cox must adopt and tries to learn to do a good job in this most unique position in the athletic world. I'll pass on the leadership stuff, napoleon complex garbage, and point out a secondary characteristic or two that coxes unintentionally inherit after riding in the box for a while. They can't drive a car anymore. They take 10 miles to change a lane, oversteer, can't find ...
