Henley Cocktail Night
As you may already know Cadeyrn and I are going to represent Macquarie University at the Henley Royal Regatta from 2-6th July this year. Nick Garratt announced as AUS coach
Mosman Rowing Club is proud to announce that our Head Coach Nick Garratt has just been selected as coach on the Australian Olympic Team to Beijing.
This is Nick’s 3rd Olympics as a coach.
Nick will coach the womens quad scull in which Mosman Rowing Club has two members Amy Ives and Zoe Uphill vying for selection. Both Amy and Zoe were members of the 2007 Australian Rowing Team.
Mosman still has Tom Laurich, Dan Noonan and Peter Hardcastle trialling ...

Some of the MRC gang were at the The Chaser filming last night (for reasons to be later announced).
It was a fun night, started (therefore finished) much later than normal though - making the seniors nice and tired for the time trial (masters should capitalise on this)!
It looks like it will be yet another awesome episode when it is aired tonight (and next week for some of it as they went way over time).

School row boats destroyed in arson attack - National - smh.com.au POLICE have reactivated a task force to find a serial arsonist they believe is setting fires on the North Shore, including one early yesterday in which a boatshed was destroyed.

Today marks the official launch of China’s national coxswain competition. The competition, in the form of a TV reality show, aims to select two national team coxswains in time for the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and will be broadcast on China’s major television network, China Central Television (CCTV).

Mosman Rowing Club to cease operations as a Licensed Club

The directors of Mosman Rowing Club have resolved to cease its operations as a licensed premises, converting its Clubhouse at Mosman Bay to an unlicensed facility and closing the Rowers Restaurant in early 2007.
Mosman Rowing Club President, Bryan Weir, said the Board's decision had not been easy but that it was committed to pursuing the Club's Charter: "to encourage and promote the sport of rowing".

Well done guys, two wins and a few good performances.
Here's a few photos of the parents and competitors. Good win in Novice Quad (blue) and single (Gus Macgregor). Likewise a very good effort in a scratch crew in the red quad.
Thanks to those parents who helped with the loading and unlaoding of the boats, without it there would have been no boats at the Regatta.

Day 3 - US Masters Rowing Seattle
Started well in the D4- but over rated, led till the 850 metre mark and passed by a better Kent Mitchell Rowing Club crew (privately owned with sponsored rowers, all ex-nationals) to take silver.

MRC had the most outstanding results last weekend at the ITC 5km time trial.

Once again, our outstanding girls Amy Ives and Zoe Uphill right up the top battling within 4 seconds of each other, Nick's Aussie crews hammered it and fantastic results all around.
The trials can also credit the selection of Mosman athletes Alistair Matthews, Alicia Boehm, Brynne Allen, Luke Freeman and coxswaine Ali Williams into the NSW State Youth Cup Team!
