About Mosman Rowing Club

Mosman Rowing Club (MRC) is the home of still water rowing on the North Shore, and home of some of the best rowing water in Sydney, especially early in the morning.

The Mosman Rowing Club is no longer formally affliated with the Mosman Rowers Restuarant in Mosman Bay. (www.mosmanrowers.com.au)

The MRC, based at Pearl Bay, Mosman, is the main rowing centre for some 450 rowers, including elite, seniors, juniors, masters, recreational and school rowers, and we house over 100 rowing boats at the facility.

MRC’s Head and Elite Coach, Nick Garratt, who has an extensive Olympic and World Rowing track record, is supported by six other coaching staff to keep MRC at the top of elite rowing in Australia.

We also have a second rowing facility at Killarney (off Killarney Drive, Forestville) for sculling and rowing camps with accommodation for 20.

The MRC is self-funding by memberships, lease arrangements to schools and private members and ongoing fundraising activities.

MRC has had representatives in the vast majority of World Championship and Olympic rowing teams over its history (founded in 1873) and will continue this tradition through its increased commitment to elite rowing and supporting its athletes. Four of its current members represented Australia in Greece in 2004, a number of which are hard at training for Beijing 2008, hopefully to compete along with a numbers of our young hopefuls.

MRC is a New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) Elite Development Centre and over the last 12 months has developed a great working relationship with NSWIS.

MRC was the base and training Centre for the Australian Quad and Double Scull competing in the 2006 World Cups and the 2006 World Championships at Eton, The teams were coached by MRC’s Elite Coach Nick Garratt. The crews included our rowers Peter Hardcastle and Dan Noonan. Also competing the the 2006 World Champs were MRC’s Tom Laurich in the Men’s Eight (M8+), and Jaxon Rudduck in the Men’s Coxless Four (M4-).

The MRC is also the base for the Australian Womens Sculling program heading to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Nick Garratt is the coach for this team.
