Masters rowing started to gain momentum in the early 1990s when some of Mosman Rowing's successful competitors from the 70s and 80s formed recreational crews and then started competing in the burgeoning Masters circuit.
Success at many State and Australian Championships during the 1990s led to the group looking for challenges on the international scene. Starting in 1999 with a trip to Seville in Spain for the FISA World Masters Regatta, Mosman Masters have established a tradition of annual trips to some of the finest rowing venues in the world. Along the way they have formed strong relationships with many friends of rowing around the world, and have developed Mosman’s reputation as a feared and respected competitor on the international circuit. Masters ranging in age from late 20s into their 70s continue to compete regularly around Australia and internationally.
Mosman annually sends crews to compete in U.S. and Canadian Masters Championships, the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Henley, and FISA Regattas in venues such as Vichy, France, Montreal, Zagreb, Lithuania, Croatia and the USA.
On the domestic scene Mosman is one of the leading Masters clubs in Australia with regular success in sculling and sweep oared events and State and National Championships each year. Mosman men have been a significant part of NSW representative teams each year since the introduction of Interstate Masters races in 2002.
