There are now less than 2 weeks to go until the State Rowing Championships- and on our results in the past few weeks, Mosman is going to have a great regatta out at SIRC on the 16th & 17th February!
Taree
Firstly, our weekend away at Taree, where we had competitors aged from 12 to 66. Every Mosman rower recorded at least a top 3 placing- and for most it was multiple gold medals. Or multiple whiskey glasses on the Sunday!
The Masters really enjoyed the opportunity of cheering on our fantastic juniors- and being cheered on ourselves by the Juniors & parents & brothers and sisters!
The Mosman red and white prawn suits were certainly a dominant feature of the weekend- and the Taree commentator particularly remarked on our Juniors in their personalised regatta T-shirts (thank you Alice and Martina!).
Everyone pitched in and worked hard, but Linda Read and Tony Blay were extraordinary! Every Junior crew was organised, every boat rigged, every race watched, every boat loaded. They and their Juniors even had time to help the Masters, who should be able to do simple things, like getting their riggers on the right way round , by now!
Thank you Tony and Linda for a fantastic weekend- and thank you Dave Wear for towing the trailer, a huge task.
And thank you Jordan Vanderheide– supercox extraordinaire! First regatta, first race– and first gold medal!
Sydney RC
Yesterday at the Sydney Regatta at SIRC, our Juniors and Masters were joined by our Senior and Elite rowers.
How fantastic!
It was an amazing feeling for all of us to be rowing at the same regatta , and in the same zooties, as Peter Hardcastle, Amy Ives and Zoe Uphill!
Kieran, Cadeyrn, Adam and Al all had fantastic rows as well- certainly something for our Juniors to aim for! (Happy 21st Birthday Kieran for yesterday!!!)
We needed 3 trailers, including Dolly’s massive blue beast, to get everything out to SIRC.
Again, the red and white stood out- with many entries and many great results. Every Mosman “girl” (aged 14 to 60) was wearing their lucky Mosman socks - and those socks featured frequently on the winning dais.
A special congratulations to Sherro who won his first gold medal yesterday. (Well, actually a beer mug.)
The Masters are looking forward to being in the grandstand (!) and cheering on our Elites, Seniors and Juniors at State.
It will be a great weekend for Mosman Rowing Club.
