It was another great day out for Mosman Rowing Club yesterday! A cooler day than our last mass migration to SIRC, with light, misty rain and beautiful rowing conditions!
We were again out in force, with 90 seats entered in every class of boats from singles to eights, and rowers aged from 14 to 65!
We won 10 events ( again with rowers aged from 14 to 65), with numerous seconds and thirds– and all this without Nick’s squad or our full complement of masters!
Once again the juniors led the way, with 8 girls and 6 boys in the U16/17 age group racing singles , doubles and quads– and Tess Bartels with her partner from Drummoyne blitzing the competition in the U19 2- and 2X-( and in the process demolishing the U21 competitors.)
The Masters had some good rows, and some even winning their first medals ( congratulations Sally)-but for many of us the highlights of the day were being the cheer squad for our younger rowers.
Tony and Linda have done a great job with these athletes. Not only do they row well technically, but they never give up! They all attacked with every stroke, no one took the easy option at any stage.
They were a great example for all us “mature” rowers.
Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the AGM today such a great event– those who swept and mopped and cleaned, those who set up all the tables and chairs, who polished the trophies, sold raffle tickets etc etc,—–but a special thanks to Dasher, Pete Mayoh and Torq, who had the worst job of all, manning the BBQ.
Congratulations to all our trophy winners: we’re all very proud of your achievements.
We are a very lucky club to have such a fantastic President and Club Captain! Thank you Bryan and Dolly for all your hard work over the last year! And thank goodness you are both there again this year!!
From all of us at MRC
