MRC Time Trial :: 26th July 2006

Great to have the MRC reporter Dave “Weary” Wear back!

Here we go:

Well, after a lay off of 12 months the reporter is back on the job, and what a difference a year makes.

Not only was it a terrible shock to an aging body (big 50 at Xmas) but there has been a changing of the guard and now Zoe has knocked Peter Hardcastle of his perch to become the new world champion in the time trials, where will all this end? You men what the hell is going on?

Apologies as follows:

The Bat: poorly chest still, but seen hiding and secretly training on the water.
Weirdo: Just hiding.
Quad: Going overseas and too lazy to do TT.
Chappo: Too busy, so he tells us.
Evo: recovering from Chappo’s Friday bash.
Matthieus: In bed.
Graeme “I can’t scull” Opie: In bed
Big Dave Hoy: In bed with Opie.
Gordo: No excuse now so get back in a single.
Tits: Seen down there but piked out of the TT.
John Hardy: Jet lagged (again)
Macca: No idea where he was. Macca get down here, us men are taking a hammering.
Glenda: It was raining (is that an excuse?)

The list is endless, so here is the gossip.

Conditions: good, incoming tide, slight tail wind and a good wash from the tinnies past the Bluff! (well, it hit me and Tiff. anyway)

20.44 Zoe (Downhill like a rocket): Winner and new dual (ie Male and Female) World Champion. Once she goes straight down the course there will be another 5 seconds pending as well!!!
20.58 Luke “Nuke” Freeman: Got nuked by Zoe.
21.38 Laura: Impressive race right up there past the blokes.
21.41Adam: Not sure but maybe he was keeping the rate as it should have been, ie not over 24.
21.44 Dave Wear: Yours truly, can only take solace in the fact I was not too far behind Adam. Will eat more weetabix next week and cadge a tow from Zoe or Amy.
21.46 Harriet: Hey, another good time and went well at the weekend trials I hear thro. the grapevine.
22.00 Roxana: Good time again, Go Mexico !
22.01 Brynne: Hot on the tail of Roxanna, this battle can be decided next week.
22.04 Paul: Well done mate us old guys need to stick together.
22.11 Alicia: Good time and not far off the older guys as well. Did a great job stroking the VIII last week (I heard from an impeccable source and ex Olympian).
22.29 W2X Marg and Liz: Good to see the double out there. Will pick up speed as the racing progresses but a good result.
22.38 Tiff: Got caught in the same wash as myself which stuffed us both up for nearly 800 metres. That’s our excuse and we are sticking with it.
22.50 Annie: Trucking on and a fair result too, its early days now ’til Christmas.
24.23 Tess: Hanging in there for the full 5 Klms, well done.
